Biography
Significant Taiwanese modernist painter Yang Wei-Chung was born in Hualien in 1947. He graduated from Tamkang Middle School, where he had studied painting with the artist Chen Jinghui. Yang is a celebrated artist in Taiwan, renowned for lyrical abstract works which reference his deep knowledge of European and American modernist painting. He has received a number of prestigious awards including those presented by Hualien County and by the Republic of China Painting Association. Yang was an influential teacher at Tamkang Senior High School, a member of the China Art Association and the Republic of China Painting Society. His work has been exhibited widely throughout Taiwan and in the United States. His son, Chang Ling, is also represented in the White Rabbit Collection. Yang Wei-Chung lives and works in New Taipei City.
