Biography
Born in Baoding, Hebei Province in 1982, Ma Jiawei studied for both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Fine Arts at Beijing’s highly academic, competitive Central Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 2011. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions in ‘Imprimitura’: ‘Spatial Grammar Research Project’, Lang Kong Art Museum, 798 Art Zone, Beijing (2019); ‘Apercevoir au loin l'horizon’, Musée des Arts Asiatiques, Nice, France (2014); ‘The New Directions: Young Chinese Contemporary Artists’, Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2012); ‘The Big World: Recent Art from China’, China Blue Gallery, Beijing (2009); ‘China: Construção – Desconstrução’, Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (MASP), Sao Paulo, Brazil (2008). She currently teaches at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, living and working in Beijing.
