A set of four photographs of a sofa with ornately curved arms is altered through the projection of a face painted with a landscape in the style of literati shan shui painting. Unnervingly, the eyes peer out at us from the edge of the sofa seat, gazing unblinkingly from behind painted foliage and mountains. They represent the four seasons, a popular subject in classical Chinese scroll painting. Details of foliage, bare branches, subtle hints of colour and its fade to the whiteness of snow and mist hint at the changes in the natural world across the year.
