Luxury Logico converted a figurative painting by Taiwanese artist Su Wong-shen into a digital file, and then created a computer program to analyse its colour range and convert RGB codes into numerical sequences, etched onto a copper sheet. The art historical practice of oil painting is translated into a digital language, then back into another historical form – etched with acid into copper. The ‘etching plate’ appears to convey a mysterious and unreadable code, its minuscule numbers impossible to decipher. In fact, each group of three numbers represents a specific RGB colour code from the original painting.
