Feng Chen creates videos, sculptures and hypnotic installations that investigate the synchronization between visuals and audio, inserting a wedge between different signals and leading us to question which of our senses we should ultimately trust. In his work, perception and reality interact with each other in labyrinthine ways. Feng Chen uses objects, light, sound and other media such as photography to make us question the nature of reality. Here, a circular wooden relief of a landscape that is carved into undulating waves turns like a record, with a baton/microphone moving up and down its contours like the needle on record player to create a soundscape that recalls ocean waves.
