Notes
Hu Weiyi observed how clothing and jewellery left marks on his girlfriend's skin, and discovered that these imprints took about 14 minutes to disappear. He began to photograph the 'embossings' left behind by the elastic in her underwear, the pattern of her socks, and by her watch and jewellery. For Hu, these marks were like an ephemeral text that can be 'read' to reveal much about the person's gender, age, social class, habits and taste. The faint marks on the skin emphasise human vulnerability.
