Biography
Bi Rongrong was born in Ningbo, Zhejiang in 1982. Following undergraduate study in Chinese Painting at the College of Fine Arts of Southwest China Normal University in Chongqing, followed by a master’s degree in Chinese Painting at the Art College of Sichuan University in Chengdu. Between 2008 and 2010 she studied for a further MFA in Painting at the Frank Mohr Institute in Groningen, the Netherlands. In 2009 she participated in an exchange program at the School of Design, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Significant exhibitions and public projects include ‘Fiction Landscape’, Art Basel Hong Kong Discoveries, Hong Kong; ‘Wave’, Shanghai Museum of Glass, Shanghai and ‘Fiction Landscape’, A Thousand Plateaus Art Space, Chengdu (all 2017); ‘A Beautiful Disorder’, Cass Sculpture Foundation, Goodwood, UK (2016); ‘Absolute’, Vanguard Gallery, Shanghai (2015); ‘A Tangible Shadow’, Sifang Collection, Nanjing (2014) and the collaborative stage set ‘A Transformation of Tri-Image 2/3’ for ‘American Finch’ performed by Uferstudio, Berlin. Bi Rongrong lives and works in Shanghai.
