Biography
Li Hui fused art with science and technology to convey ideas about human perception and experience. He asked us to question what is real and what is illusory, and his work critiques the urbanisation, industry and consumerism of the contemporary world; his locus of operation was the disturbed balance between nature and humanity in the twenty-first century. Born in Beijing in 1977, he trained as a sculptor using steel and wood at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 2003. Since that time, his work has been exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions. Li Hui died on May 4, 2020.
