Biography
Born in Hunan Province in 1985, Li Zhenzhong graduated with a BA in Visual Communication from Hunan Normal University in 2005. Moving to Guangdong Province, he then undertook further study in oil painting at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2007. Exuberantly expressive and spontaneous, his paintings are inflected by hybrid eastern/western influences ranging from vivid, simplified Fauvist landscapes and German Expressionist colour and brush marks, to the sweeping ink and wash paintings of the Song and Ming Dynasty literati painters. His work has been shown in numerous youth and group exhibitions in Guangzhou, and in several exhibitions in Paris, including ‘5 Chinese in Paris’ at Bellechasse 55 Gallery in 2017. Li Zhenzhong lives and works in Guangzhou.
