Biography
Liu Ke was born in Ningxiang, Hunan in 1976. He graduated with a master’s degree from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2003, where he currently holds the positions of vice-president of the School of Painting; Dean and Associate Professor of the Oil Painting Department of GAFA; Secretary General of the Oil Painting Arts Committee of Guangdong Province; Secretary General of the Youth Research Association of GAFA; Director of Sabaki Space in Guangzhou and Executive Curator of Boxes Art Museum of OCT. In his art practice Liu Ke explores aspects of time and space, but he is equally committed to his roles in art education, and he believes that the one informs the other. His work has been exhibited widely throughout China and internationally, including recent solo shows in the Museum of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (2019 and 2010); Hive Center for Contemporary Art, Shenzhen (2018); Space Station Beijing (2013) and a 2008 exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany. Liu Ke lives and works in Guangzhou.
