Biography
Cheng Guang was born in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province in 1971. He studied in the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1997. His paintings often feature depersonalised figures in similar cheerful postures with exaggerated grins on their faces, a reference to the collectivist aspirations and subordination of individualism seen in Socialist Realist painting. His work has been shown in several solo and group exhibitions within and beyond China. Cheng Guang lives and works in Beijing.
