Biography
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Ko Yu-Cheng is a contemporary ceramic artist. With a training in painting at the Fu-Hsin Trade and Arts School before his education in design and ceramics, Ko’s works focus on formal elements of simple geometry. His complex observations are often simplified into three-dimensional ceramic works with a minimal, clean aesthetic. Ko often collaborates with fellow Taiwanese ceramicist Kung Wen-Yi to create larger, more elaborate ceramic installations. Water Drops (2014), in the White Rabbit Collection, is one of their joint projects where each of them made half the work. The two artists have exhibited together, most recently at a joint solo exhibition in 2017 at the New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum. They are also part of the Wu Xing Ceramic Art Studio in Tamsui, Taiwan, along with artists Chen Ming and Liu I-Wen.
