Biography
Beijing-based, Hunan-born Huang Ying graduated from Beijing Film Academy and the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing. Working within and across media including video, photography, graphics, installation, sculpture, and painting, she is interested in redefining boundaries between the real and the simulated, the natural and the artificial. Her aim is to transform virtual forms into entities that can be touched and perceived with digital media, creating ‘a blurry terrain between dream and reality’. Solo exhibitions include ‘Thirteen Dreams’, a Holographic Immersive Space, Shede Art Center, Chengdu, China (2018) and ‘My Mirrored Realm’, Today Art Museum, Beijing, China (2012). The many international group exhibitions for which Huang’s work has been selected include BienalSur-The International Biennial of Contemporary Art in South America, Museo MAR, Buenos Aires,Argentina and Bienal de Curitiba, Oscar Niemeyer Museum, Curitiba, Brazil (both 2017); The 17th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh (2016); and ‘A Woman's View: New Chinese Art’, University Galleries, William Paterson University, New Jersey USA (2013).
