Jin Jiangbo is one of China's foremost new media artists. He was born in 1972 in Zhejiang province and completed his PhD at Tsinghua University in Beijing in 2007. He is currently Associate Professor and Assistant Dean, Shanghai Academy of Fine Art, Shanghai University and Executive Director of Shanghai University's Public Art Coordination Centre. His photographic series examined an urban industrial world, bound to foreign capital and market forces, which posed a provocative challenge to audiences to consider the post-colonial, globalised world. His work in the White Rabbit Collection alludes to the tensions between tradition and the contemporary world. Jin’s work has been shown in solo exhibitions in China and New Zealand, and in group exhibitions including ‘Shanshui’ at Kunstmuseum Luzern, Lucerne, Switzerland (2011); The Third Guangzhou Photo Biennale, Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou (2009); The Third Nanjing Triennial, Nanjing Art Museum, Nanjing (2009); ‘Go! China!’, Groningen Art Museum, the Netherlands (2008); ‘Mahjong – Contemporary Chinese Art from the Sigg Collection’, Museum of Fine Arts, Berne, Switzerland (2005) and the 50th Venice Biennale (2003). Jin Jiangbo lives and works in Beijing and Shanghai.
