Biography
Sha Shuang graduated with an MFA from the Printmaking Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, in 2019. A multi-disciplinary artist, she produces works across multiple media including painting, installation, ceramics, printmaking, photography and site-specific projects. Her work examines notions of standards and standardisation – she explores the principles and paradigms that influence the behaviours and judgements of people of different genders, nationalities, generations, professions and backgrounds. The images Sha Shuang incorporates into her immersive, interactive installations are sourced from the Internet using search engines such as Google that in the artist’s opinion are themselves powerful influences, creating the standards that we accept and adhere to. Her work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions in Shanghai, where Sha Shuang lives and works.
