Biography
Born in 1982 in Yilong, a county in the northeast of Sichuan Province, He Liping received his BA in Sculpture from Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts. During his study, he became more interested in conceptual performance art instead of sculpting and actively participated in performance art festivals and events. His engaging and humorous work examines the relationship between body, public space and social issues, often challenging traditional boundaries of art and established social attitudes. He Liping’s work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in China, including ‘0 - Opening Exhibition’, Chengdu (2019); Paris Night in Shijiazhuang, Shijiazhuang (2019), ‘Slice of Life’, Guangzhou (2016); and MC Performance Art Reference, Chongqing (2016). He currently lives and works in Chengdu.
