In Cong Lingqi's 'Dust 2' 210 tiny models of everyday objects, from a dustpan and brush to a fly swatter, and from a mosquito coil to a sink plunger, are suspended in a dark space, caught in the beam of a searchlight, their shadows cast on the wall. They float as if they are space junk languidly circling through the galaxy. Their shadows seem like the memories of obsolete tools and implements, soon to be forgotten in the race for material wealth and newer, shinier possessions.
