The 2001 Nightlife series blurs the shifting boundaries between species. In the urban jungle, sometimes the roles of predator and prey become confused: Lee examines the ‘habitats’ found in city ecosystems and the wildlife activity taking place there. As if in a dystopian, futurist version of a sleazy bar in an Edward Hopper painting, here creatures in various stages and guises of their ‘trans’ human/animal identities lounge and posture.
