Struck during meditation by a powerful sense of the divine, Nick Dong set out to convey his experience in a series of “inexplicable sculptures” inspired by the forces that shape the universe. Gravity combines light, electromagnetism and Euclidean geometry with the ancient Chinese notion of “square earth, domed heaven”. The artist conceived it as a musical performance, in which the gravity-defying cube is a cosmic dancer on a mirrored stage.
