Notes
For this work Zhu Liye used experienced artists’ life models, accustomed to posing naked for art students at CAFA. She intended the work as a humorous response to the way that women have been objectified in art as objects for the male gaze. The work is accompanied by other B/W photographs that document the event. Originally the Chinese title 《序列》had been translated as ‘List of Erection’, but in discussions with White Rabbit Collection Research team she agreed that ‘Line-up’ was a better translation and closer to her intention.
