The ‘AK47 Girl’ painting series is inspired by the famous Japanese idol girl group ‘AKB48’ with their uniform white shirt and short skirts. In Chen’s paintings, they are part of an authoritarianism regime. Here, three of the ‘AK47 Girls’ accompany a caricature of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un waving.
