Notes
In general, young children would politely call adult male Uncle/Shushu叔叔 to show respect in Chinese culture. The ‘uncle’ can be within one’s extended family, and he can also be a stranger. In mandarin ‘uncle/shushu’ has very nice sound, and it also has cunning connotations and has room for different interpretations.

In 2016, I painted Dragon, Tiger and Leopard -the biggest and most significant piece in this series. The three animals are painted as background also refer to the most popular Chinese pornographic periodicals published in Hong Kong in1970s and 1980s. It could be said these periodicals were the most influential and circulated underground magazines in mainland China.
