Chen Ke’s ‘Playground’ draws upon the artist’s personal experience of becoming a mother. It consists of seventeen playful objects ranging from variously sized balls to the different stages of an infant, from a round-nosed baby head to the bulging breast, and from a female torso with a baby bulge to a swollen leg. Applying subtle colours on paper clay, she communicates a precious memory from her own life in an unusual sculptural form.
